David Harrison has nearly 20 years experience standing up for Western Australian business and industry. In March 2024 he commenced as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Kwinana Industries Council, the peak business and industry association representing members in the Kwinana Industrial Area and along the Western Trade Coast.The Kwinana Industries Council promotes and contributes to the sustainable co-existence of the Kwinana industry, the community and the environment. The Kwinana Industrial Area is the premier industrial estate in Western Australia, covering an area approximately 8km north-south and 2km east-west, on the eastern side of Cockburn Sound some 30km south of the Perth CBD. The region contributes around $14 billion annually to the Western Australian economy, and employs over 30,000 workers - two-thirds of whom live in the local area.David’s focus is to be a strong, trusted and effective voice for local business and industry with key local and national decision makers and stakeholders.David has extensive public and private sector experience in corporate affairs, public policy, government relations, brand and marketing, and media and communications.David has been a senior leader in the higher education sector for the past 12 years, most recently serving as the Pro Vice Chancellor Communications and Engagement for the University of Notre Dame Australia. Prior to joining the higher education sector, David was a senior leader with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia responsible for its policy, advocacy and media activities. He started his career as a television reporter for the ABC specialising in state politics.David has extensive experience working with government, shaping public policy and running public advocacy campaigns. He has been at the forefront of a range of public policy issues ranging from workforce development and labour shortages, macroeconomic reform including taxation and regulation, local government reform, retail trading hours, education and training, and research and innovation.David is married with 2 children. David and his family are passionate basketball supporters and are actively involved with the Willetton Tigers Basketball Association.
