Fulltime internship assisting Professional Engineers (PE) with creating construction documents for PA Department of Health and Division of Safety Inspection review and approval. Supported projects included hospitals, retirement/end-of-life care facilities and office buildings across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as a sterilization facility in Mexicali, CA. Performed onsite surveys and assessments. Utilized AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley MicroStation and other engineering software. Work completed includes:● Created electrical demolition worksheets for lighting and power/systems from on-site survey drawings/notes. ● Created electrical new-work worksheets for lighting, power/systems, and fire protection equipment that included designing circuiting devices, creating receptacle and lighting layouts, creating panel and lighting fixture schedules as well as riser diagrams for door access and fire alarm equipment. Utilized COMcheck to make sure local energy codes were satisfied.● Created energy system models with Trane TRACE 700 to estimate heating/cooling loads and used that information to specify new air handler units. Calculated simplified heating loads with Microsoft Excel in order to cross-check TRACE 700 models.● Created chilled water flow/riser diagrams, HVAC ductwork and plumbing demolition sheets from on-site surveys. Verified contractor-submitted ductwork plans by ensuring they matched approved PE designs and specifications. ● Performed HVAC on-site surveys to verify existing ductwork and air handling units matched PE designs.
