These duties include managing a variety of direct reports including process technicians, process engineers, quality technician, frontline supervisors, tooling engineers, secretary and a production planner. Gale Die Mold is a captive tool shop located off-site, but is owned by Grote… Show more Manager of Injection Molding/Plastic Finishing & Gale Die Mold My duties include managing all operations involved in the Plastic Injection Molding/ Plastic Finishing Division as well as Gale Die. These duties include managing a variety of direct reports including process technicians, process engineers, quality technician, frontline supervisors, tooling engineers, secretary and a production planner. Gale Die Mold is a captive tool shop located off-site, but is owned by Grote Industries. This tool shop has eight toolmakers, one designer and a group leader. The shop does all repairs and many engineering changes to most tools & dies within the manufacturing operation. It also has the capability of builing new tools and dies. Duties also include establishing an annual budget and executing to that plan. I also coordinate cost reduction activities throughout our operations. Grote is also TS-16949 certified, so activities in our area must comply with these standards, as well as incorporate many continuous improvement efforts. My duties primarily are focused upon injection molding and plastic finishing operations. The molding operation consist of 26 injection molding machines ranging in size from 55 ton to 725 ton. Included in this equipment is one vertical injection molding machine and two all electric machines recently purchased. In 1999 I installed a 48" Stokes Vacuum Metallizer. This unit was purchased with the Tri-Coat system. I was responsible for purchasing, installing and processing this equipment. I must also confer with tooling and equipment vendors to determine specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials and/or tools. The operation consist of 22 injection molding machines ranging in size from 200 to 3000 tons. The molding operations are performed using thermoplastic on all applications. The operation consist of 22 injection molding machines ranging in size from 200 to 3000 tons. The molding operations are performed using thermoplastic on all applications. Como also uses gas-assist technology on some applications. The finishing operations consist of 30 manual spray painting booths along with secondary equipment such as hot-stamping, and graphical pad printing. Materials used in the the finishing area are all high solids solvent and water borne coatings. The primary measurables I was responsible for were operator efficiency, employee utilization, safety, continuous improvements and employee involvement. The work-force was unionized by the UAW. I managed and directed 16 salaried technicians who were involved in injection molding, finishing and vacuum metallizing. The operation consisted of 25 injection molding machines, 8 automatic unload robots, 4 automatic finishing systems, 5 vacuum metallizing chambers and various support equipment accompanying these processes.

I managed and directed 6 salaried coating technicians involved in operating 3 automatic spray finishing systems. My primary duties were the optimization of these processes in labor, material and quality. These processes used a wide variety of both thermal and ultraviolet curable coatings. Optimization was also done in the UV cure systems in order to improve the overall quality of the products being produced.
