Senior Heritage Officer
Current• Assess and prepare nominations, including original research as required, for the State Heritage Register and the Aboriginal Place program.• Document nominations, liaise with owners and other relevant stakeholders and prepare and submit reports and other briefing documents to the Heritage Council and Delegates of the Heritage Council.• Provide advice and guidance to nominators in relation to nominations for the State Heritage Register Listings program and the Aboriginal Place program. • Develop, plan and undertake or manage strategic listing projects for Aboriginal, non-Aboriginal and shared heritage; draw from a range of information sources including GIS based mapping, existing documentary and oral history research and studies of community relationships with natural and cultural environments.• Provide advice to internal and external stakeholders on developments in standards and methods for the assessment of heritage values to ensure the strategic management, conservation and interpretation of heritage values, including processing of Interim Heritage Orders (IHO) requests and S167 property search requests.• Support the Heritage Division, OEH to achieve the Government’s policy objectives and statutory requirements for heritage, contribute to the development and maintenance systems, policies and processes and represent the Heritage Division at stakeholder meetings as and when required. • Provide advice on Statutory heritage conservation matters to local government, State agencies and the community, including preparation through to finalization and gazettal in accordance with relevant legislation.
