After pursuing an engineering physics degree for two years I reached a realization that, even as a devoted student, it was going to take at least 5 years to finish the cross discipline course involved in the track. At the same time, I was volunteering in the online community space of a small game (at the time), Fortnite. Months later, after Fortnite launched Battle Royale and took the game space by storm, I realized that this community volunteer work I was doing could be a completely legitimate career. I made the decision to switch majors and pursue a general business degree in order to graduate as quickly as possible so that I could attempt to pursue my dream career in the video game space. A year and a half later, I found myself moving across half the country to start my first day at Epic Games! After finishing my degree online over the first few months of working at Epic, and a few more months focusing on professional development after that, my career path became a bit unclear again. There is so much opportunity at Epic to do whatever I love, and I love to do a lot of very different things. I've worked on the Community Team, the Social Media Team, and am presently on the Player Lifecycle Management Team. I am excited to see what the future brings!
