David was a member of the 2006 victorious Ryder Cup team. The 36th Ryder Cup Match was held 22–24 September 2006 in Ireland at the Palmer Course of the K Club, Dublin. Europe won by 18½ to 9½ points, equalling their record winning margin of two years earlier for their third consecutive win, a first for Europe. Swedish rookie Henrik Stenson made the winning putt, just moments after Luke Donald sank a putt to ensure Europe retained the trophy.

David was a member of the victorious 2004 Ryder Cup team. The 35th Ryder Cup Match was held September 17–19, 2004, in the United States at Oakland Hills Country Club, Michigan. The European team won the competition by a margin of 18½ to 9½ points. The victory margin was the largest by a European team in the history of the event, and the largest by either side since 1981.
