Hartford, Connecticut Area

As Assistant Principal at ELAMS, I took the lead on instructional leadership. I worked with the Instructional Coaches, the Principal and other members of the Instructional Leadership Team to design a work plan that laid out our student learning objectives for the year and the professional learning that helped us to achieve those objectives. Through supervision, coaching, learning walks, data inquiry teams, and professional learning, we built our capacity to achieve those objectives. In addition to instructional leadership, I worked closely with the Principal to maintain a vibrant school climate, oversee the special education and RTI processes, and other duties of an administrator.

As a School Designer, I worked with schools in New Haven and Hartford to help the school leaders and teachers to implement the Expeditionary Learning (EL) model in their schools. I led professional development in the schools with whole staff and coached individual teachers. I also co-facilitated national Institutes on topics such as Student Engaged Assessments, Reading at the Secondary Level, and Facilitating Adult Learning. I presented at the Expeditionary Learning National Conference on Learning Walks in 2012 as a School Designer and in 2013 as an Assistant Principal of an EL school.

New London, Ct

As the Director of Academics, I was primarily responsible for the coordination of curriculum and maintaining fidelity to a project based academic program. I was a teacher leader and led professional collaboration in an effort to strengthen an academic program that emphasized student leadership, student ownership, and authentic learning experiences. Some of my proudest accomplishments were the high quality products the students created and the field learning experiences they enjoyed such as the annual Outdoor Expedition.
