Dave graduated with an Engineering Degree (1979) and an MBA (1989) from the University of Manitoba. He worked for a consulting engineering firm 1979-80 after which he became an engineering specialist with the Province of Manitoba from 1980 through 1991.Dave started his utility career with Manitoba Hydro in 1991 as the Power Smart Planner and has held positions as Power Smart Evaluator, Business Planning Coordinator, and Communications (Advertising) Manager. During this time Dave also did overseas consulting work for Manitoba Hydro International in the area of Demand Side Management (energy efficiency).In 1999, Dave started his new role as Industrial Development Engineer where he was responsible for the development and management of the Corporation’s relationships with economic development departments within various, city, municipal, provincial and federal government agencies in Manitoba. He worked in concert with these agencies towards the common goals of retaining, expanding, and attracting targeted industries to Manitoba.Dave now leads Manitoba Hydro’s Economic Development team where he brings his passion to working with the community, site selectors, and new industrial customers to optimize Manitoba’s advantages for the long term benefit of all parties.Dave is a Charter Member, past Director, and Fellow of the Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) and currently serves as a Director of the Utility Economic Development Association (UEDA). He is also a member of the Economic Development Association of Canada and the Economic Development Association of Manitoba.
