I am a senior Database Administrator/Developer with over 28 years of experience in the IT industry, all of that time working with data through various DBMS (mostly SQL Server). I started my career in fraud control analytics for the Australian Government (Social Security, Employment and Tax Departments) and quickly progressed to Consumer Retail (Marks & Spencer, Equifax) and Lloyds Insurance sectors in London (Kiln Group, Faraday Re). While in London I built my own software company (Ice Wharf Ltd) and in collaboration with another founder company (Rasprodz Ltd), successfully launched unique software for the radio broadcast industry. This was a great success with sales in Australia, Canada, Ireland, the US and many other countries.My last sea-change was to move into the investment banking sector in Singapore where I have been a successful senior DBA looking after various global IT Database environments and SQL projects (Barclays Capital, Standard Chartered Bank). While in Singapore I helped get KUMO off the ground with a friend. Building the companies first cloud offering based on complex SharePoint environments in Azure. KUMO won Microsoft Start-up of the Year in 2015.I recently left a senior position at Standard Chartered Bank where I run a 24/7 Global Support Service for the MSSQL estate (+800 production instances across the globe). This is also where I designed and deployed an innovative Private Cloud service called DaaS (Database as a Service), allowing for faster time-to-market for bank projects at a significantly reduced cost. Over the last 3 years I have managed this remotely from Bali with the full support of the banks senior management.When I moved back to Australia with my family I started work as a DBA Developer for Sunsuper, an award winning $46 billion superannuation fund based in Brisbane. This has been a challenging role developing new database systems for the companies major technology refresh project of 2020.I am currently working as Data & Analytics Manager for Max Solutions, a wholly owned company of Maximus US. One of my first tasks when joining was to help get the companies data and databases compliant to the Governments strict data policies. I have also helped move much of Max's data to a cloud platform and continue to advance their analytics and reporting with tools like Synapse and Power BI to name a few. My role at Max continues to be a challenging and enjoyable experience because the company is always looking to advance itself in difficult times and the people I work alongside are a joy to be around day-to-day.
