Graduate Research Assistant
In this role, I demonstrated expertise in the field and excellent analytical skills, while designing and constructing various generations of single-fiber composite print heads. I successfully created and patented a novel polymer-composite additive manufacturing method for use in the production of ultra-lightweight, high-performance heat exchangers. I patented the Metal Fiber Composite additive manufacturing technique invented in my senior year of my bachelor’s degree. As a result, I received a scholarship including tuition and living expenses for my Ph.D. and a $2.5m grant for the school was procured for the development of the technology. I continually received positive reviews and over $400K in additional funding.I conceptualized, monitored, and coordinated the development of a multi-head/multi-fiber polymer composite printing process for the mass production of cross-media fiber heat exchangers. With keen attention to details, I determined the pressure containment properties of the cross-media fiber heat exchanger by designing and conducting mechanical and lifespan characterization experiments. I built a structural model for use in the optimization of cross-media fiber heat exchanger’s mechanical properties. I developed CAM software for operating metal fiber composite 3D printers using Java.With strong communication skills, I collaborated with various partners to identify and analyze potential market opportunities for the cross-media fiber heat exchanger. I demonstrated excellent public speaking skills while presenting at 12 ARPA-E quarterly project reviews, six CEEE consortiums, and five conferences. With strong leadership skills, I supervised and oversaw six undergraduate research assistants and interns.
Sailboat Rigging Technician
In this role, I oversaw, organized and performed commissions of new yachts in a timely and accurate manner. With excellent strategic planning, I promptly performed large-scale boat repairs with budgets up to $200K to ensure outstanding results. I generated engineering drawings of custom parts using AutoCAD and Creo Parametric I designed. and installed performance sailing systems as per client specifications and requirements.I actively communicated with clients during hardware inspections to identify and discuss necessary repairs and possible design changes. In this position, I demonstrated strong leadership, time management, research, collaboration, and multitasking.
