A key member of the Individual Life and Wealth Management leadership team where I led 325 professionals responsible for all aspects of individual life insurance product and service at Guardian. I was also the CFO for the individual life business unit. My responsibilities included:- Finance, including planning, analysis, and capital and risk management- Underwriting and new business processing- Policy administration and service for 700,000 in-force policies- Product pricing and profitability management- Product implementation and illustrations- Actuarial services including reinsurance strategy

I led a team of 65 professionals overseeing all financial and actuarial aspects of the life insurance business of Nationwide. Responsibilities included:- Finance, including planning, analysis, and risk management- Product development, pricing, and profitability management- Product implementation- Actuarial services, including reinsurance strategy, valuation, and modeling

I led a major transformation of the entire finance organization to become better business partners and enhance value for Nationwide. The project redesigned and implemented new financial systems and processes (including establishing a finance shared services organization), delivered information to provide insight and enhance decision making, developed the capabilities and competencies of all finance associates, and lowered costs.

My responsibilities included financial reporting (GAAP, SEC, and statutory), accounting policy, financial and management reporting, monthly and quarterly close, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and reporting, analysis, forecasting, capital management, rating agencies, and acquisitions and integration.
