I have worked in the fire service in the Kansas City Area for over 25 years with the Southern Platte Fire Protection District, West Platte Fire Protection District, and City of Riverside Fire Department. I have gained experience in the field as well as in the classroom. I am a graduate of Park Hill High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and have obtained an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences in the field of Fire Science from Metropolitan Community Colleges. My motivation for obtaining higher education has guided me to obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Fire Department Administration from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Alabama. I have conducted countless training sessions with the Southern Platte Fire Academy as well as currently manage a volunteer training program with West Platte Fire Protection District and was the Training Division Coordinator for the Riverside Fire Department. I am experienced in using modern instructing techniques for course delivery including, Moodle, website design, and social media. My motivation for teaching is to facilitate an environment that fosters the effective transfer of skills that I have learned to the next generation of firefighters. I believe in training firefighters to be proficient in core competencies that the public expects when called to duty.
