    The brand had adopted a high profile marketing strategy since its launch in October 1989 but commercial objectives had not been met. David was tasked with acquiring customers off-the-page fast, to avert internal storm clouds which were gathering around the brand. The success achieved with off-the-page advertising led to David progressively taking responsibility for the full communications mix at first direct: brand management, advertising, direct marketing, pr, customer marketing and internal marketing. He managed and led a team of fourteen working across these disciplines. Key Achievements:• Defining the Customer Journey in depth and detail whilst CRM was still very much in its infancy• Chairing Customer Development meetings which in a ground breaking manner for the time, wrote customer contact rules and prioritised ‘next best activities’ based upon a 360 Customer View• Achieving strategic integration across all Customer Acquisition media• Generating a 25% share of the Current Account Switcher market for a brand with a 1.5% share of the Adult Banked market• Representing the company at major conference speaking engagements in: London, Brussels, Stockholm & Rome• Working jointly with the HR function to introduce a radical approach to cross-functional communication• Halving customer acquisition costs from press advertising whilst doubling volumes • Continuing to increase meaningful awareness of the brand in the absence of investment in broadcast media• Writing the internal brand values booklet, issued to all staff, which enshrined and anchored the culture that make the organisation unique
