Oversaw the newsroom of one of Wisconsin’s most reputable weekly newspapers, as well as assigned, developed, and edited the articles and columns for each publication. Plus, designed the page layout for the Regional News and its sister paper, the Zion-Benton News. Was also a member of the Regional News’ editorial board. Primary responsibilities included: - Supervised a five-reporter news staff. Assembled page budgets, assigned stories and helped brainstorm art ideas to accompany each article.- Proofed and polished all articles, columns and editorials. Copyediting consisted of reviewing work for grammatical mistakes, as well as narrative flow, style and clarity. Required open communication with associates, as well as ability to provide constructive criticism.- Lead production and generated both written and photographic content for a wide variety of the company’s special publications, including Luxury Lake Geneva, the Regional News’ highest ad-revenue grossing magazine. Also included are the annual Regatta Guide, Bridal Guide, weekly tourist guide and monthly real estate booklet.- Design responsibilities included judging stories’ newsworthiness, determining their placement in the paper, graphic creation with Adobe Photoshop and page construction with Adobe InDesign.- Produced content as a member of the Regional News’ editorial board, collaborating with peers to write weekly opinion pieces about local affairs and politics.- Customer service responsibilities, such as helping subscribers troubleshoot issues with the Lake Geneva website and e-edition, listening to story ideas from members of the community and fielding responses from the local community. - Extended the Regional News’ social media presence via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Provided extensive coverage of every local fall, winter, and spring sports team, including both written and photographic content. Was also responsible for event coverage, weekly page design and generating the content for the Regional News’ three seasonal sports guides.- Produced approximately 10 articles per week, averaging a combined 7,000 words. I was also responsible for editing my own copy, as well as that of my peers, and designing the newspaper pages in Adobe InDesign.- Built a strong rapport with a number of community sources and colleagues through hard work, amicability and a willingness to learn and function as a part of the team.- Gained extensive photography experience working in the field with a Nikon D5100 and a 200mm lens for two-plus years.- Frequently traveled for different events and kept unconventional hours, working nights and weekends.

Worked as a contractor for United Technologies Corporation; duties included managing a group of engineers, setting and maintaining project schedules, proofreading technical documents and assisting corporate clients.- Established short- and long-term goals for the taskforce, tracking progress and keeping programs on schedule.- Assisted on-site customers from Brazil, serving as an intermediary between them and our management/engineering teams.
