I took 1 year of Mandarin Chinese as a student at the University of Central Florida. I am fluent in English and have used it frequently in my education, jobs, and internships listed below.During the Summer of 2022, I interned with the Orlando Office of Senator Marco Rubio. During the length of my internship, I mainly assisted with congressional inquiries. Constituents (or people they spoke on behalf of) who were having issues with federal departments could ask us to inquire on their behalf to those federal agencies regarding the situation. I interacted with constituents and helped guide them through the inquiry process or answered their questions. This allowed me to develop excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to pay attention to detail and multitask. My other internship duties, along with constituent services, required me to also regularly sort, catalog, and handle sensitive personal and governmental data. By the end of my internship, I had assisted with 150+ cases, some of which involved Special Immigrant Visas (SIV). To clarify, SIVs are usually granted to individuals in areas where the U.S. Department of State had no official embassy or consulate (like Afghanistan after the U.S. withdrawal) and require the involvement of other government departments, usually those that fall under the banner of the U.S. Intelligence Community. From 11/27/22 to 2/15/23, I have worked in the University of Central Florida's Financial Aid Department as a Work Study where I aid students in solving their financial aid issues. My time at the UCF Financial Aid Department involved me learning research skills to hunt down solutions or identify issues while also developing excellent written communication skills as I met my email quota. I also developed a functional knowledge of institutional and federal financial aid practices while handling students' sensitive personal data. From 9/14/2022 to 5/5/23 I worked as a Research Assistant (RA) at the National Intelligence University (NIU) where I assisted in producing published research of interest to the Intelligence Community. I worked with NIU faculty/staff, providing objective analysis of relevant information to answer an assigned inquiry. This entailed gathering, collating, and presenting information for papers that the NIU Press will publish. During my tenure as an RA at the NIU, I was specifically tasked with providing timely analysis regarding current Chinese sharp power in Afghanistan following the U.S. withdrawal.
