I began my sales career in 1984 selling Chevrolets. I was fortunate there was an abundance of training by seasoned sales professionals both at the dealership and the GM Institute. I learned quickly and enjoyed selling and sold enough units in my first years to become a member in the 'Legion of Leaders'. This is a select group of top performing of GM sales professionals. I later accepted a sales position working for a small metals distributor. Although there was great potential this particular company lacked good management - the employees compensated for the lack of quality leadership and I also excelled here too and was responsible for landing their largest account. 5 years later it was time to move on and I began a career as an independent sales representative for other metal distributors. It was difficult but I was successful and one of my Principals offered me a full time position to manage their first ever satelite branch. In January, 1992 I moved to Chicago and set up a small office/warehouse. Fast forward and 2 years later, sales and inventory had grown to a point it was necessary to relocate. We built a facility 4x's larger and hired additonal staff to support or growth. Within 12 years annual sales grew 6 fold and all had gone according to plan until nepotism in the home office necessitated my departure. For the next 4-1/2 years I was the sales manager for a long time client that expressed interest in me. During that time their sales rose and additional employees both in customer service & production were hired to support their growth. In the fall of 2009 I was offered an opportunity to join 5 former colleauges at Metal Resource Solutions; a young and fast growing organization. In 2007 Inc. Magazine recognized Metal Resource Solutions as 1 of the top 500 fastest growing privately held companies in the US.
