Having worked at Sweet Hut for half a year, I always tried to go out of my way to make sure that the store operated smoothly when I worked. As I dedicated more time and effort to my work, I was willing to accept more responsibilities and take on a more of a leadership role. Having already had experience in providing excellent customer service, my role expanded to handling upset customers and making sure I can find the best solution for them. I have also managed the team of our employees; my responsibilities included delegating tasks, handling any conflicts, and supervising their work. Getting my second job as a barista at Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe was an incredible experience. What I really admired about it was the relative autonomy that I was given. Having received basic training in making beverages and serving customers, it was up to me to decide how I wanted to work as long as I got my job done. I knew that I could not settle for the bare minimum, so I always went out of my way to help my coworkers when they were busy, helped the shift managers re-stock the supplies, covered someone's shift in case of emergencies, stayed after my shifts to help on busy days when my co-workers were overwhelmed, and volunteered to decorate the store for holidays like Halloween and Christmas. It was a true joy to work in such a supportive team. I learned so much about how to provide excellent customer service, work in a team, and be professional. My daily duties included maintaining and cleaning gym equipment, ensuring patrons' safety and providing First Aid in case of an emergencies, coordinating basketball games, training new employees, and operating sales of memberships, daily passes, and equipment. I learned to be much more accountable and dependable, and I was always willing to offer help for the patrons and my co-workers alike. Show less
