As a member of the Airport Systems Support team I was involved with the delivery of a significant IT project to replace the core Passenger Service System of Virgin Atlantic with the system utilised by their joint venture partners Delta Air Lines. Key role was to conduct end to end testing during the development stage before deploying Air4 to Virgin Atlantic Airports around the network, conduct end to end testing during the installation & troubleshooting any issues encountered. Others Key Accountabilities:• Support the continuous operation of BAU Virgin Atlantic airport systems, working to defined service level agreements.• Action assigned incidents and work orders within defined service levels.• Liaise with internal IT Services, plus external 3rd parties to achieve issue resolution.• Assist with the resolution on non-routine issues that may arise eg: application performance issues, ensuring they are documented and communicated with appropriate team members.• Provide technical expertise and onsite support for new route start-ups, airport moves, airport closures, including the front and back office environments.• Assist other Virgin Atlantic teams in evaluating and implementing new technology pertaining to Departure Control and shared systems functionality.• Provide on-going support to application certification and development with 3rd party airport systems providers.• Understanding quickly the nature and impact of IT issues raised via the helpdesk and/or 3rd party.• Co-ordination and prioritisation of multiple airport and overseas IT incidents simultaneously.• Use of best judgement on appropriate actions and solutions for problems raised ensuring minimal operational disruption.• Use of best judgement to address issues identified during testing for route start-ups/re-start ups.

In line with Government Legislation. • Additional duties as directed by Airport Services Manager/Airport Services Officer such as attending check in desk planning meetings, Airport contingency meetings etc to assist with the operation and day-to-day running of the station. • Management of Company fares and ticketing process. • Performing staff appraisals and mentoring new starts.

Load ControllerWorking in a highly pressurised environment I was responsible for the planning and monitoring of the aircraft turnaround with the aim to complete weight & balance documentation for arriving and departing Aircraft. This involved liaising with Flight Crew, Fuellers, Loading staff, Caterers and bmi Customer Services staff in order to achieve a safe, legal and punctual departure whilst ensuring the highest possible standards of customer service were delivered to the customers.Customer Services Supervisor Seconded to position for a period of 3 months.The role of the Supervisor was to ensure the smooth operation of the shift, dealing with any problems that passengers or bmi customer services staff may have.I was also responsible for working out daily rosters ensuring staff were available to deal with all aspects of the operation e.g. check in, boarding gates, escort duties and baggage services. Graphical User Interface DevelopmentWith my knowledge of the bmi Passenger Service System, I was seconded to a project to develop a Graphical User Interface for new PSS being deployed around the bmi network.Based at bmi Head Office in Castle Donnington, I worked within a small team working closely with computer programmers, Senior Management & Training Departments to develop the system.This product was successfully rolled out across the bmi network in early 1999.Customer Services Agent Duties included the meeting and boarding of flights, dealing with missing and damaged baggage, entering the files into the Worldtracer system, checking in passengers and dealing with a wide range of the travelling public and the problems that incurred.In March of 1993, I along with 2 other colleagues set up a dedicated baggage tracing department where I worked until October 1993.
