I've been programming since 2002, with a little break in the middle where I did a PhD in Computer Science. I've had a wide range of roles: writing distributed compilers and linkers, writing high-quality cross-platform APIs, moving a single-machine manually managed service to an automatically provisioned distributed service on AWS, writing a scheduling engine for a SaaS company, and creating and delivering educational material for Haskell programmers. The constant theme behind all of my various activities has been curiosity, which has driven me towards lots of learning and lots of tinkering. In the last few years I've become a team leader and then an Engineering Manager, and I'm loving helping people to grow and thrive - both inside of organizations and in the rest of their lives. Although the tech stuff is still fun as well.
