A Chartered Civil Engineer, I started my career with W&C French in 1973 and continued to work with the successor organisation "Kier Group plc". I retired from Kier in 2018 and now practice as Lambert Safety Services Ltd, providing H&S Consultancy to the construction and voluntary sectors, focusing on Asbestos and Construction H&S, and training. During that period I have worked on site from site engineer to Contracts Manager, ranging from urban and rural highways and bridges to heavy structural steelwork, airport, industrial and office buildings, hospital and prison construction.I undertook secondments to Civil and Structural consultant Andrews Kent and Stone, and ran a team embedded within General Motors (Vauxhall). I was responsible for quality and technical support at Kier Southern before moving full time in health and safety risk management. From 2000 to 2011 I was responsible for providing SHE support across Kier Services (from FM to building maintenance and environmental services). Between April 2012 and 2015 I divided my time between Kier and the UK Contractors Group, where I was head of H&S. Since 2015 I was the Kier Group subject matter lead on CDM and Asbestos as well as being responsible for H&S Training standards and core provision, integration and investigations.My particular areas of interest or expertise are , temporary works, design, asbestos management, legislation (especially CDM) and Forensic Engineering.I am an active participant in the Institution of Civil Engineers where I have been a supervising Civil Engineer and on the Health and Safety Panel, which I chaired from October 2011 to December 2014. I am an advanced member of the ICE H&S Register, and an active corresponding member of the ICE H&S panel, and project contributor. I continue to contribute to construction industry groups and committees.
