Responsible for design of MB8000 in car DVD player ensuring that approval testing and manufacturing trials were completed.Responsible for the design of a multifunction unit used to supply IR audio to headphones and also to switch between different audio sources to supply the in car audio system.Responsible for the approval of the testing and interpretation of the result of this testing to ensure that the items were within specification. Was also working on a replacement DVD player and a technology investigation into a DVB-T solution for use in-car.Peer reviews of my own and the other members of the team’s designs before they were approved for manufacture.

Assisting the engineers in the car radio design team in their everyday work. Liaising with other departments and arranging for testing to be completed at agreed dates and ensuring that the results of this testing were also available to the engineers at the appropriate time, ensuring that the radios were available for these dates. Responsible for the management of their quality documentation (ISO 9000 / TS 16949), writing service manuals, test procedures and maintenance of the project timing plans. I also investigated faults that had occurred in the field and that would affect warranty to the radios including designing tests and circuits.

As a systems technician in this squadron it was my duty to ensure that all communications equipment within the squadron is in good working order. This included regular inspections and testing of all RF and telephony equipment used by the squadron and its customers in the field. It was also my responsibility to repair this equipment at first line (subassembly) level and to affect a repair further up the repair chain if necessary. Since 1994 I was also a member of the regimental training team, training new systems technicians in the equipment used by the regiment. It was also my responsibility to maintain a regimental intranet whilst in the field.

My main duties here were as a field service engineer. This entailed travelling to a customer's site, diagnosing and repairing any faulty part within a computer network to subassembly level and returning this subassembly to the workshop. At the workshop it was my duty to repair to component level the subassemblies brought in by other engineers and myself. It was also my duty to procure the parts and repair services required to enable the effective repair of all assemblies.

Here it was my duty to install networks, both servers and workstations, using Novell NetWare V3.14 and configure them for use with a bespoke software package written for the courier/taxicab industry. I also used to write patch programs in Clipper for this software package.

Here it was my duty to repair to component level, subassemblies and machines brought in by the field service engineers. These repairs were carried out, sometimes, without the use of diagrams. It was also my duty to commission new machines for existing networks. This included dumb and intelligent terminals for use on the networks, and also the distributed servers used by some networks. I also tested and configured servers for new minicomputer systems to be installed by the principle engineers. These included Sun Microsystems, Prime Computers, Digital Equipment, Datapoint and Wang computer systems. I was also the principal Wang engineer. To this end I wrote a set of diagnostics programs to be used by the in-house engineers to repair any terminal that was brought in for repair. I also procured parts and maintained a technical store for use by the field service engineers.
