I started my professional career as a manager within the retail betting industry (don't judge) and I have a real appreciation of how that business works and how technology has transformed it from where it was to where it is today. For better or worse I have spent the last 19 years within financial services (again, don't judge) the last 10 spent providing internal and external consultancy services (Solution Architecture, Business Architecture, Systems thinking & design, Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, pseudo Scrum Master, pseudo Product Manager). Late January 2016 my view of the world and the world of work fundamentally changed as a freak accident almost cost me my life. It is only due to the brilliance and dedication of our NHS staff (I thank you one and all) that I am still alive. After a Six hour operation, fourteen pints of blood (two more than a usual night out :-), 11 nights in hospital and a two month phased return my fledgling consultancy company was launched. Since that time (June) I have been helping companies realise their strategic goals through delivery of their complex change programmes across many areas of retail financial services. These programmes include bank wide transformations as well as change within; Cyber Security, Mobile Comms, transactional Security journeys and regulatory change including PSD2. I am tech geek at heart, am very mindful of what is going on in wider industry and a huge advocate of modern ways of working. Most recently I advocated for the introduction of a DevSecOps model and use of a CI/CD pipeline whilst previously being a heavy advocate of introducing agile methodologies for programme and project deliveries. I have also adopted Continuous Improvement into my professional development too. I am AWS Certified - Solution Architect (Associate) and currently have three additional AWS Certifications (Security Specialty, Big Data Specialty & SysOps Admin) in progress. I am also AWS Certified - Cloud Practitioner sand all the way from a Developer where I began my IT career to where I am now I am always on the lookout for my next learning opportunity. It's key to stay current and aware of what is going on industry in order to provide the best service I can to my clients.
