About David Lien
I'm a licensed mechanical engineer with 25 years of experience in the power industry. I've split my time between a large engineering firm and utility based in Minnesota. I've done work on most types of power generating facilities (coal, combined cycle, & nuclear), but the bulk of my experience has been in coal plants. Given the current state of the power industry, it's a fairly safe assumption that I'll need to learn some new skills in the near future since the type of facilities that have been the focus of my career to date are becoming more scarce. In my career, I've handled all types of engineering issues, but my favorite activities are unique problems that require unique solutions. I like to think that I'm at my best while I'm learning new things and don't enjoy a lot of repetition in my work.
