Creating ETL processes for a ProFinance system; supplying the data to an Oracle data warehouse.

• Senior resource providing design and development expertise of a 10G Oracle data warehouse which centralised all fund information for reporting and published material.• Responsibilities included table structure design, Extract Transform and Load (ETL) via Microsoft SQL Server, .Net C#, PL/SQL and Autosys, multiple levels of testing, implementation and post go-live support.• Designed and developed a user interface for the above application in C# and Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) to enable the business to manage complex data relationships and provide instant and scheduled data transfers between systems.• Initially hired for a six month contract, this was extended for another 6 months.

• Provided Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, C# and Business Objects expertise for implementing extract, transform and load functionality for the Derivatives Management Information data warehouse. This system provided timely and accurate business KRI’s and KPI’s to enable control and effective management of operations and support of front office business managers globally.• Responsibilities included database development, design, performance tuning, extract development, lifecycle management, data reconciliations, testing, release management and documentation of the 500 GB system.• Identified the need and developed an automated regression test application which saved 5 days work per release cycle.• Worked extensively with a geographically dispersed team in multiple time zones (predominantly Singapore and New York) and acted as mentor to junior developers.• Implemented a development and release methodology to improve quality and traceability.• Initially hired for a six month contract, this was extended a maximum of four times.

Senior consultant having worked on the following engagements:Thomas Cook• Migrated the development and support team to an offshore service delivery model within time and budget. Maintained all support KPIs and development commitments during the transition. Multiple technologies and platforms supported and developed including: Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft VB and UNIX.• Developed a complex Management Information reporting solution with Oracle Discoverer and SQL in a very short time frame during difficult circumstances. Involved in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.Barclays• Improved application performance of a recoveries application (Tallyman) from minutes to micro-seconds by utilizing my Oracle database tuning expertise to re-write complex SQL as PL/SQL functions.• Managed the analysis and development of the Management Information reporting requirements of Tallyman; prioritising the deliverables and developing the critical reports in Business Objects - Crystal reports XI.Saint-Gobain• Successfully delivered within time and budget a multi-user training administration application. Owned all phases of the system development life-cycle. The application provided savings of over 90% in effort to manage the complex training tasks of a large SAP implementation. By using a multi-tier architecture and a robust yet flexible design in Microsoft Access, it is now being used as a standard tool in Accenture implementations. British Telecom• Release lead for a British Telecom’s retail test platform. Responsible for managing the delivery of complex releases to the test environments. Worked with aggressive timelines using a scrum development methodology. Involved extensive liaison with offshore teams and excellent problem solving abilities over a wide variety of technologies; specialising in Oracle.

• Developed load processes for the data warehouse. Required analysis with business owners to extract valuable data from externally supplied sources in multiple formats and media. Extensive use of SQL Loader and PL/SQL in an Oracle 10g environment. Required complex data manipulation to standardize load processes to ensure traceability. • Maximised efficiency and enforced business rules by developing re-usable PL/SQL modules. The improvements reduced the data load turnaround time from 3 weeks to 3 days.• Automated the process for creating load scripts to minimize developer error and improve time taken from 16 hours to 1 hour per load.

• Led the implementation of an Oracle enterprise solution to a global client from pre-sales, sales pitch, pilot project, data migration, training, and further international expansion.• Led a team of three to deliver an offline reporting tool which was platform independent and secure, utilising one-way synchronization to provide offline reporting and data migration capabilities. Implemented using PL/SQL, XML, Web Service, .Net 2.0• Designed and developed a mobile trial and breeding management system. Encompassed a rich user interface including multi-language support, offline usage, synchronization over LAN and Internet, one click installation, auto-registration and validation. Implemented using SQL Server, SQL Server Replication, .Net 2.0, Web Services and Reporting Services.

• Maintained and developed the Performance Measurement System. Required batch loading from a MAXIMO call centre system and performing extensive summary calculations using complex PL/SQL to produce the monthly performance reports. Also required maintenance of KPIs and site details for a multi-billion pound contract. • Key development team member producing Athena, a web enabled application for maintaining the contract KPIs. Two year project using Oracle database and ASP user interface. Extensive use of n-tier architecture and XML driven interfaces. Large volumes of data from multiple sources were processed in near real time.

• Performed data mining on an Oracle database to support the marketing team’s requests. Involved complicated SQL scripting and strict process control to ensure integrity and quality of the results.• Insured the Oracle database, implemented on a UNIX platform, was available during normal working hours. Performed upgrades and applied patches when necessary. Quarterly refreshes were implemented, requiring large file transfers between multiple platforms within strict time frames.

• Systems administrator responsible for the company network and WAN, supporting 40 staff and all systems including an Oracle database.• Designed a comprehensive marketing database in Oracle 7. Used SQL and PL/SQL to perform data warehouse analysis in the form of data requests from the marketing and management departments. Developed PL/SQL procedures for filtering and cleaning external data to ensure transactional batch processing was performed with minimal errors and delays.
