International Trade Economic Analyst
As member of trade group, assist and advise clients on a variety of trade-related matters, including antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings, section 232 tariffs, section 302 tariffs. Track and monitor trade-related developments across a variety of US and international organizations, build and maintain organizational databases, and conduct analysis and maintain large datasets of trade data.
International Trade Compliance Analyst
Enforce antidumping and countervailing duty trade compliance laws, regulations and procedures as established by the United States government and the World Trade Organization by providing objective analysis of the facts of each specific case. Responsibilities include preparing financial, economic and legal analysis of the information provided by the companies and countries being investigated while ensuring each review adheres to statutory and regulatory deadlines. Additionally, the position requires frequent communication with foreign companies and governments under review to obtain supplemental information necessary for analysis and also participate in on-site verification team of the information provided. Furthermore, other responsibilities include preparing and presenting analysis and recommendations to senior government officials; maintaining a complete record of each proceeding; drafting a variety of documents, including briefing papers, communications with outside parties, recommendations and decision memoranda, U.S. Federal Register publications, and instructions to U.S. Customs and Border Protection regarding the collection of antidumping and countervailing duties. To date, casework has covered China, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Thailand, and Ukraine.
Project Coordinator
Provided technical, administrative, logistical, financial and programmatic supervision and backstopping to over $50 million in international development donor-funded projects and programs primarily in Latin America. Experience includes working on community and economic development programs in Armenia, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay and Peru and funded by a variety of donor organizations. Over this period, responsibilities have included: • Managing program budgets and review monthly program expenditures;• Reviewing and supervising all procurement, contracts and subcontracts to ensure strict compliance with donor rules and regulations;• Reviewing/editing reports, work plans and other documents and ensure timely completion/submission as per donor requirements; • Traveling periodically to overseas field offices to provide short-term technical and administrative support and train field office staff on ACDI/VOCA headquarters’ administrative and financial policies and procedures;• Representing ACDI/VOCA in meetings with officials from the U.S. government, host country governments, donor agencies and partner and beneficiary organizations while overseas; • Applying vast understanding of agricultural, trade and economic development issues in Latin America to support ongoing technical efforts in field offices;• Maintaining relationships and communication with program donors, consultants and subcontractors; • Coordinating program start-up and close-out activities including participating in in-country teams;• Conducting market research and participate in the coordination and development of technical and financial proposals in response to requests from USAID, Millennium Challenge Corporation, World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank and a variety of other international development donors.
Loan Consultant/Risk Analyst
Provided microloans to small business owners and individuals in the New York City area, serving as a company representative in Upper Manhattan, the Bronx and Westchester County. Contributed to local economic development by lending over $1.4 million in loans averaging less than $10,000 to over 155 clients. Duties carried out in this position include:• Assisted primarily Spanish-speaking and immigrant clients in applying for financing;• Supported clients with business advisory and management services as well as linked them with community organizations and financial institutions;• Ensured that a complete, thorough and individualized analysis was conducted of each business or individual financial situation;• Provided initial risk analysis and recommendation to underwriters upon completion of loan application;• Coordinated with underwriters and credit committee to mitigate and minimize loan risk;• Expanded the organization’s lending portfolio by working with community leaders and existing clients to identify new clients;• Covered additional regions of the New York City area during periods of high demand;• Interviewed and trained new Loan Consultants and Risk Analysts;• Supervised one Lending Associate including analyzing and underwriting all loan applications submitted by her, training her in effective financial analysis and sales techniques;• Assisted local community organization by providing free financial and credit counseling to low-income people in the South Bronx. • Applied knowledge of financial terminology in Spanish and cross-cultural skills to effectively provide lending and advising services to a majority of immigrant and non-English speaking clientele.
Peace Corps Volunteer
Assignment consisted of reactivating a local agricultural cooperative. Over the two year assignment, developed cooperative educational activities to successfully re-engage 50 members, conducted a community diagnostic in 8 towns to develop short- and long-term strategies for the cooperative’s operations and coordinated with the cooperative’s board of directors. Beyond the cooperative, worked with a youth group to promote environmental awareness and protection, assisted the local ecological society in reforestation efforts and trained community members on improved small business management skills.
