Lefthand Fire is an all-hazards, combination paid & volunteer, fire protection district covering 52 square miles of suburban and rural Colorado. We have a mix of interface communities, intermix and wilderness spanning two a wide range of elevation and fuel models. Our district has steep two lane highways, recreational vehicle and cycling traffic. We have extensive county-wide mutual aid agreements, and run approximately 200 calls a year, protecting over 2000 citizens.My qualifications include:• State of Colorado FFI & FFII Structural Firefighter• State of Colorado Fire Instructor I and Driver Operator Utility• State of Colorado HazMat Operations • National Registry and State of Colorado EMT• ENGB & ICT5 with local and national experienceAs a rural / suburban mostly volunteer department we all take turns maintaining department assets including vehicles and stations. We run calls from home and the station and set the example to the community and to our newer responders on professionalism and service in all situations.In my tenure with Lefthand we have been at the forefront of several local large incidents including:• The Middle Fork and Marshall Fires December 31, 2021, large scale wind-driven disasters on the Front Range.• The Cal-Wood Fire of 2020, 23 home lost in our district and the largest fire by acreage in Boulder County.• The Cold Springs Fire of 2016, 8 homes lost in Nederland, CO, we were part of the initial response.• Boulder County Floods of 2013, myself and several responders were trapped in and managed the response in the town of Jamestown, CO, which suffered one civilian casualty and lost 30% of the homes in town.• The Fourmile Canyon fire of 2010, a 6,000 + acre wildland fire which burned over 140 homes in the first operational period.

We did structural protection, burnout operations, direct attack handline construction and mop up operations in a rugged wildland interface environment. I also responded to medical calls for the department, constructed the departments website and was responsible for inventory of PPE and tools.
