Marketing, seeking new traffics, help manage existing traffic flows, customer liaision, attend meeting swith navigation and other authorities, represent on bodies such as the Commercial Boat Operators Association.

The Commercial Boat Operators Association represents UK operators of coastal and inland waterway freight vessels and associated businesses. It works with local and national government, the navigation authorities and other bodies to promote freight by waterway thus offering a truly green alternative to road (and rail) with vessel capacities of up to 1000 tonnes or more.

Including one year acting as Chief Inspector pending appointment of my successor. I am an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Railway Operators.

Managing a boat hire base, with passenger, restaurant, hire boats, waterbus service, moorings, boatbuilding and repairs and a fleet of freight carrying craft (some leased, some managed, some as agent) from 25-500 tonnes capacity on the inland waterways of the N East, East Midlands, and N West. Waterway and railway consultancy

Work signal boxes in West and North Yorkshire. Manage signallers in the Healey Mills (Wakefield) and adjacent areas (including continuous assessment), train signallers at the Leeds and Watford centres, and train other skills and disciplines throught the rail network. As Area Inspector, based York, responsible for safe operation of signal boxes and signalling centres in NE England (137 locations), write or assist with production of local instructions, rules and regulations etc., examine signallers and others in the rules and regulations.

Play the organ as required and provide music for skating sessions, competitions, galas etc (including recording music for ice dancing world wide), manage skating sessions, and assist with ice centre policy etc. (Similar role at Streatham ice rink from 1967).
