I am a retired Data Analyst and Data Modeler with over 30 years experience looking to re-enter the Data Engineering workforce. I find I am not ready to retire, but want to do work that I enjoy such as learning and applying new data methods in modern applications. My most recent application was a Python project for analyzing bikeshare usage data from major metropolitan areas using NumPy and Pandas.I have extensive experience in relational data analysis and modeling: I taught those skills on Wall Street, downtown NYC; built oil exploration data models in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; and built a multi-dimensional data visualization and executive-dashboard application for orders, sales, and shipments at Intel Corporation. I am currently enrolled in a Data Engineering Nanodegree Program with Udacity. I anticipate being available for remote project work or contract work via a consulting company by April, 2020.

I extracted data from Intel’s EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse) and transformed it to fit a star schema model I created using SAP’s EIS (Executive Information System – forerunner of SAP Business Objects). I showed it to my manager, who showed it to his manager, etc up 4 levels to the executive suite.• Built Intel’s EMR (Enterprise Metadata Repository) – a relational data warehouse for data about all four areas of Intel’s business: Business, Data, Applications, and Technology Infrastructure. It was a team of four that conceived and built it. I designed and modeled the Data-area entities, the others each modeled the business, application and infrastructure-area entities. The EMR could show what business departments depended on what applications that used what data from what source or warehouse systems. I also built the automated ETL jobs to gather the metadata from operational systems to routinely load the EMR. It was also used to mark which data elements and data stores were under various levels of personal privacy regulation, eg., European PII standards. The team also built an EMART (Enterprise Metadata and Asset Reuse Toolkit) application for developers in any business line to query and find apps, reports, data, or servers that they could reuse resulting in $50 M annual savings in development costs. These were audited amounts from reuse events captured by EMART.• Conceived and managed the project to build an impact analysis application to alert downstream data and application targets about pending changes to source or warehouse data that will impact them. This could tell a business application owner which Microstrategy reports would be impacted by a change in an SAP source system. Show less -

It was the first of its kind and had the effect of showing for the first time the overall integrated business of the exploration business line.• Designed, modeled, and built an addition to the E&P Data Warehouse for borehole analysis data as further input to the interpretation of underground geology and composition. These tools were so successful that when the Saudi government finally opened new licensed areas for ARAMCO, they hit new oil reservoirs almost immediately. Show less -
