I managed a team of eight electrical and mechanical design engineers to develop a new product family.  I mentored them with career and personal development opportunities and guidance, resulting in employee retention and employee satisfaction.I developed efficient and structured product development processes, allowing engineers to design products rather than redesigning the process for each project.  For example, I collaborated with the Test and Validation Department manager to design and implemented a process for lab test requests using MS SharePoint.  It structured the flow of information and provided searchable storage of data and reports.Building a strong team is essential to achieving our project goals.  I encouraged team building by championing activities such as an annual Habitat for Humanity Day.  Working side-by-side in a different setting accelerated the integration of four separate teams into one by improving cooperation, morale, and team cohesiveness.  I built WN’s first structured internship program for design engineering, and on-boarded an electrical and a mechanical design engineering intern.  A good internship program bolsters recruiting efforts by promoting name recognition amongst college students.  In a small company, there are always tasks outside the regular work.  I volunteered to lead the remodeling of the entire WN-Americas office building.  I managed the design and proposal of $2M remodeling project to make our workspace more creative, energetic, and appealing.

I led engineering teams in the development and release of production motorcycles. My team was a proud part of the 2018 Softail project to create an entirely new platform of eight models. Specifically, we delivered the new Softail Slim and the revolutionary FatBob which won Cycle World Cruiser of the year and multiple other industry awards. My team delivered the predecessor, model year 2014 FXDF - Fat Bob with cutting edge styling and exciting new finishes. In 2016 we delivered Electronic Throttle Control to all Softails giving the bikes cruise control, which is a feature previously only available on Touring bikes. We delivered High Output 103 cubic inch (HO103) engines on Softails and Dynaglides. In addition, we created the International TriGlide trike and two new S-model Softails, the FLSS - “Slim S” and the FLSTFBS - “Fat Boy S”.Harley-Davidson provided me with a wide range of learning opportunities. I completed a one-year structured training program for Product Integrity and Liability. This continues to provide me with an informed perspective on product safety when making leadership and design decisions. I was one of three engineers that founded the Value Engineering department. I established an efficient automated process that harvested continuous improvement suggestions from throughout the company and calculated relative financial impact which enabled rapid and objective selection of projects.

I wore many hats as a consultant at eServ. I sold engineering services to Harley-Davidson and Hayes Brakes Performance Systems, Inc. (HBPSI). I wrote “Statement of Work” documents which formed the contract between eServ LLC and my customers.I managed those projects including the staff which consisted of about six engineers onsite and up to twelve at eServ offices. I provided daily direction, project assignments, and performance evaluations.We delivered a wide array of design work. I contributed to the creation of the first-ever H-D trike, called TriGlide, by leading the development of the 3-wheeled brake system and integration of a belt drive with compensator into an automotive open differential.

When I was with Graco, I led project teams incorporating electronic controls into the highest quality mechanical equipment in the fluid handling industry. The majority of applications were for painting, so the embedded control systems had to be Explosion Proof or Intrinsically Safe due to the hazardous atmosphere. I had opportunities to travel to Europe, North America, and Asia to gather customer requirements at the beginning projects.
