Directed all phases of operations of a $5M high technology optical design and manufacturing firm, supplying complex optical lens systems used in high resolution imaging, semiconductor inspection, laser eye surgery, surveillance, laser marking, confocal microscopy and the general optical science markets. Responsible for engineering management, production management, cash flows, sales strategies, budgeting, defining core vision and ideology, and management of a team of 20 employees.Designed hundreds of multi-element diffraction limited lens systems. Expert in the use of Zemax design software and interferometry. Design examples include: zoom lenses, high NA microscope objectives, beam delivery system for laser eye surgery, IMAX and Planetarium lens systems, one of the largest refractive zoom lenses in the world, SWIR objectives, Fourier transform lenses, telescopes, apochromatic scanning lenses and finite conjugate imaging systems.Developed optical metrology and precision optical alignment assembly techniques.

Active board member elected to supply technical guidance to a $10M publicly traded company, supplying advanced optical materials and gratings to the semiconductor, laser, and optical sciences market. Active in identification and acquisition of new ventures.

Promoted from senior engineer. Directed all phases of the newly created optical assembly department. Main directive was to integrate existing crystals into component products. Responsibilities included product design of optical isolators, high powered polarizers, and polarization rotators, in addition to solid-state laser system optimization, instrumentation, customer presentations, locating new market potentials and managing a team of engineers, technicians and assemblers.

Developed techniques for making precision transmission measurements on fiber optic glass, and for measuring fluorescence lifetimes of laser glasses. Conducted research on laser glass fusion bonding and on the dynamics of platinum dissolution into laser glass. Operated, maintained and computer-automated a laser damage tester.
