About David Mas

Generative AI has taken the world by storm. It brings both huge risks and huge opportunities for Democracy.At Make.org we work hard on using AI to reinforce Democracy by empowering citizen particitipation with AI.Since 7 years, I have been working on making citizen voices matter by producing the most relevant synthesis of their votes and contribution by mixing AI and human analysis. But generative AI offers the opportunity to go way beyond relevant synthesis and dramatically lower the barrier to citizen participation.AI summarization capabilities can enable citizen to enter the most complex topics, without prior knowledge and expertise. AI assistants can enable citizen to make relevant contribution that express their idea in the most impacfull way, even if they are not expert polticians. AI facilitators can enable citizens to deliberate at scale with each other, instead of arguying through polarization enhancing social media platforms. Generative AI has the potential to deliver the promise of a massively engaging Democracy. My job is to make it happen.
