I developed methods for converting data from legacy systems as well as capturing new data into the ERP system. I utilized various tools to accomplish these duties including SAP Data Services, Winshuttle Microsoft Excel, and XML forms. In the process of converting legacy data I developed SQL queries, defined conversion rules, and enriched the data to match SAP data standards. For day to day master data maintenance I developed and maintained master data entry methods to SAP through the use of XML forms. I developed forms with dynamic data rules, provided the end user with an intuitive interface, and followed authorization workflows.Most Recently, I worked to utilize JSON API calls from Excel via Power Query and VBA. I enjoyed working to broaden my Excel and VBA skills to create dynamic queries that are extremely user friendly. I have also finished my first data conversion from end to end using SQL DBs and Excel data connections.

I worked as a conduit between business users and SAP FI modules in the process of continuous improvement. In this capacity I worked closely with business users to identify gaps in functionality and implemented solutions to close those gaps. When the business brought issues to my attention, I worked diligently to understand what the business requirements were and how to best meet them. First, I developed an understanding of what the business wants through active listening as well as excellent written and verbal communication. Then I identified viable solutions through analysis and research. After that, I confirmed with the business that the proposed solution would meet their needs and then I effected changes to configuration or worked with technical teams to implement the solution. After the solution had been implemented I tested it for errors or gaps and had business users test it before implementing the solution in the production environment. Once the solution had been released to the production environment, I confirmed with business users that their needs were met. When not engaged in business projects, I proactively analyzed business processes for bottle necks and inefficiencies to identify problem areas where future improvements were needed.While in this position, I led much of the implementation of the Payment Manager program, an EDI payment solution with Wells Fargo. Throughout that project, I worked closely with the business and Wells Fargo to identify the necessary configuration changes, developments, and EDI requirements. After identifying the requirements, I was able to translate them into technical language to aide developers and the EDI team to create a satisfactory EDI solution for accounts payable. As the EDI/IDoc solution for banking and payments was new territory for the team, I performed research, held coordination and collaboration meetings, and assigned tasks to move the project forward. This led to the successful completion of the project.

I continually improve processes to prepare journal entries and reports, perform accounting for the Emmett Sawmill, and maintain fixed assets. I do this by developing an understanding of the end goal, analyzing the current process, and making decisions and improvements to more effectively attain the end goal. I have developed better journal entries, partnership statements, and financial statements for the Emmett Sawmill. I also lend support to colleagues in regards to Excel, SAP, and general IT issues. I can troubleshoot SAP errors and I can work through them to find solutions.

I managed a team of student auditors in the assignment of carrying out audits of university departments. I analyzed the procedures of university departments to provide reasonable assurance that departments were following university policies and were in compliance with local and federal laws. I also tested the effectiveness of controls to prevent errors and fraudulent behavior. I did this by observing the department, interviewing the department’s management, obtaining source documents, and analyzing general ledger details with the aid of IDEA Data Analytics. I provided support for colleagues in the use of Excel and IDEA Data Analytics. Beyond these responsibilities, I also created VBA subroutines and functions to extract data from the AS400 system and organize it into readable financial statements for the Accounting Department.

I am CPR and First Aid certified and I render it when necessary as a first responder. I have been working at Woodgrain Millwork in Fruitland, ID for the past two months, completing my internship. I have been enjoying it here and have been progressing in my knowledge of accounting and have been very pleased with the atmosphere here. I have been given many projects to work on and also been very busy with the audit for which we are getting ready. One of the projects I have been tasked with is conducting interviews and starting the hiring process for the next intern that will take my spot when I finish in April. I also have learned a vast amount of Excel functions including lookups, pivot tables, and summations. I have been given great opportunity for personal and career development through the leadership here at Woodgrain. I am very happy to work here.
