Aston Currency Management (ACM) was created to provide high level clients with intelligent Foreign Exchange Solutions. Our ethos is simple – to engage with our clients and offer them a service that they won’t receive from their current providers. In my role as Head of Trading I am responsible for the duties below* Responsible for guiding clients through their best options based on each individual case, including helping clients maximise the value of their currency by currency hedging and forward currency planning.* Managing of client accounts for future currency transactions.* Liaising with banks and other financial institutions to purchase currencies on behalf of the company and clients.* Working with specialist providers in exotic currencies to offer our clients a unique service and wide variety of currency choice.* Responsible for all client needs including trading, currency swaps and account management.

After successful completion of a 3 month probation period I was made Head of Private Clients in order for the Head of Trading to concentrate on trading corporate clients and regenerating business from the client base. Working closely with affiliates to obtain new business as well as direct enquires into the website. Liaising with the sales team to improve cross selling of services from corporate to private and vice versa. Targeted to improve profit margin on both new and existing clients, along with the percentage of clients traded after signing up for an account. After my first year, the private client profit rose by £80,000 which was an increase of 60%. Percentage of clients traded rose from 65% to 75%. Other notable duties in my roles include* Responsible for guiding clients through their best options based on each individual case, including helping clients maximise the value of their currency.* Managing of client accounts for future currency transactions.* Liaised with banks and other financial institutions to purchase currencies on behalf of the company and clients including specialist exotic currencies.* Responsible for all private clients needs including trading, currency swaps and account management.* Writing daily reports to send to clients to keep them up to date with market data and rates.

After writing a review of the company’s procedures and giving my thoughts on how AxiaFx could improve as a company, I was asked to head up a new middle office department to aid in a better post trade service for clients. This involved working with the Business Analyst to produce new reports to monitor problems and improve customer services. In addition I was responsible for one member of staff to ensure that my previous responsibilities were maintained and performed to the same standard that the management expected. My main achievements in this role are as follows;* Quarterly compliance meetings with our RM from counter party (Barclays) to go over the company’s compliance processes and check that AML procedures were being followed.* Wrote from scratch the companies Anti-Money Laundering Policy and Procedures to comply with request from our counter party and FSA.* Working with the Business Analyst to produce an error report so we could identify errors and find solutions to persistent problems.* Working with the Business Analyst to produce a fund in early list to help inform traders when client had paid early for their deals so they could be drawn down to improve speed of payment.* Working with the Business Analyst to produce a problem trade report to highlight any trades with high risk or where payment was not forth coming. This enabled the traders and MD to take swift action to resolve any issues or cut trades without losing money for the company.

I was employed in January 2009 after I finished my time at university as an office assistant for a foreign exchange company. My duties include the twice daily bank reconciliation, daily authorising of payments to clients and the daily upload of payment confirmations onto our CRM. I am also responsible for carrying out compliance checks on prospective clients and uploading any new clients onto our CRM. Other notable tasks I have accomplished in this role are as follows;* Producing documents to go into a training manual for Axia.* Producing compliance documents for Axia’s FSA application.* Finding a cheaper supplier for our stationary which saved the company money.* Finding a cheaper supplier for our AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks, which involved meetings with prospective suppliers and negotiating for the best quote.In this role I have learnt how to deal with customers on a day to day basis, helping them get through the account opening process and helping them with any payment queries they may have. I have learnt the need to liaise between front and back office in order to have a smooth operating procedure. I have also learnt the need when to operate individually and use initiative.
