I am the Chair of Gould & Ratner LLP's Human Resources and Employment Law Group. In 2003, I was honored as one of "40 Attorneys Under 40 to Watch" by The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. In 2007, I was selected as a Super Lawyer and in 2008 I received an "AV" rating from Martindale Hubbell.I concentrate my practice on management-side human resources and employment law. I have represented employers of all sizes in many employment related lawsuits in both state and federal court, and before various governmental agencies. I have handled cases involving all aspects of employment law including race, national origin, age and disability discrimination, sexual harassment, restrictive covenants, workers' compensation retaliation, and breach of fiduciary duty.I also assist many employers with preventative measures such as counseling and training. I assist employers of all sizes in avoiding litigation by giving advice on a variety of employment-related topics. I have given advice on topics such as reviewing discharge decisions, accommodating disabled employees, navigating the provisions of the family and medical leave act, effecting plant closings without liability, avoiding legal pitfalls when hiring employees, investigating sexual harassment complaints, and avoiding liability for pregnancy and other types of unlawful discrimination. I have been a featured presenter in conventions for a variety of local and national trade associations and have conducted numerous training seminars for individual employers on a variety of employment-related topics.I have extensive experience in drafting executive employment agreements, employee non-competition/disclosure agreements, employee handbooks and other employment policies.
