My position involves teaching 8th grade science at John R. Lea Middle School with a focus on incorporating technology into the classroom.

In general, as academic coach, my position responsibilities revolved around supporting teachers and administrators in implementing the New Learning Standards through a better understanding of curriculum changes, instructional methodologies, and technology use in the classroom and meeting the targets of our Race to the Top grant . Through a variety of settings I have worked with groups of teachers, with individual teachers, and also with classrooms of students. I have been able to effectively communicate with teachers and administrators through face-to-face dialogues and email conversations. Choosing the style of communication has depended upon the situation and level of detail needed. This position allowed me to interact with virtually every teacher and administrator in the district and with every subject area.

In my 11 years at the high school I taught a variety of science classes: Integrated Science (freshmen), Biology (sophomore), Biology 2 (junior and senior).
