Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers perform the role of direct supervision of the work they personally perform and also technical supervision of the non certifying tradespersons working with them. LAMEs are responsible for the accurate completion of documentation relating to the work performed including progressive certification of tasks.

2004 – PresentReturned to AAES to attend Boeing 757 type course and then placed into a role of flying spanner, maintaining Ozjet B737 aircraft in all major ports in Australia. John Holland acquired the maintenance business from AAES, where I have been actively involved in line and heavy maintenance as a certifying Lame and senior Lame role.Actively involved in maintaining all Virgin aircraft types, A330, B737NG and Embraer 190 and other operator A320 aircraft.

Completion of trade school and apprenticeship, obtaining Electrical and Instrument Category Licenses and working full time in the Heavy Maintenance Dept carrying out Heavy Maintenance checks, and modifications to the entire fleet of aircraft including L188, F27 and F50, Dc9, B727, B737, B767, A320, A330, Embraer 170/190, Bell and Sikorsky helicopters.1971 – 1975 Assigned to Component O/haul, carrying out o/hauls and modifications to a wide range of aircraft components consisting of relays, motors, actuators, inverters, generators, magnetos and ignition units, inertia reals, hydraulic pumps and valves, pressurization components & calibration of instruments.1975 – 1990 Have been part of the Aircraft wiring department, working day and afternoon shift, being a leading hand of a crew of 10 to 16 avionics personnel from 19831990 –2001 Was selected to the role of Senior / Signing Lame of one of the four “Phase Crews”, a combined crew of 10 –13 highly skilled airframe, engine and avionics personnel, whose team responsibilities included carrying out overnight Phase checks on B737 and A320 aircraft, assisting other units in maintaining their critical paths and in assisting line maintenance in their overnight work packages. Being a leader of this team has been the most rewarding component of my working career.2001 –2003 Continued as Senior / Signing Lame role after collapse of the airline business for Ansett Aviation Engineering Services.Mid 2002 re-employed by Integrated Maint Systems to continue work as senior Lame for AAES. My position was made redundant on the 12 Sept 2003.2003 – 2004 Took up position of Lame with Forstaff at Avalon Maintenance Facility, carrying out maintenance and modifications to QA 747 and 737 Aircraft.
