As the EMS Chief for the Arvada Fire Protection District, I serve as the strategic and tactical leader of EMS Operations. The District includes approximately 41 square miles of the Northwest Denver Metro Area covering the city of Arvada and some portions of unincorporated Jefferson County. The 115,000 citizens of the District are served by roughly 150 career paramedic and EMT firefighters as well as a dedicated Administrative staff.In the first years of my tenure with District, I lead the efforts to develop and implement a new EMS transport program which entailed the purchase of ambulances and equipment, the hiring of 27 paramedic and EMT firefighters, and the coordination of a cultural adaptation of the department to make room for this essential service. As this service has been in place now for a little more than two years, my position has evolved to focus on fine tuning, innovation and exploring new collaborative opportunities to work with partners in the public and private sector regarding the delivery of EMS.
