A wide-ranging brief supporting the MSP’s communications and parliamentary work.Communications:• Designed and launched a new website for the member using WordPress.com, published to a dotScot domain: keithbrownmsp.scot• Created and managed a YouTube channel with clipped and subtitled versions of parliamentary speeches, questions, and animated clips of radio interviews, using Adobe PremierePro and AfterEffects.• Manage the member’s Facebook presence.• Write press releases for local and national press, upload them to the member’s website, liaising with journalists.• Provide audio clips from the member to radio broadcasters.• Drafted, designed, printed and posted constituency-wide/area-wide mailings using mail merge, to publicise the member’s constituency surgeries.• Designed a full-colour four-page annual report, that was posted to all constituents, compliant with Scottish Parliament guidelines, using Adobe InDesign.Parliamentary:• Write the member’s speeches, and draft Parliamentary questions, ensuring these are later turned into subtitled video clips for social media use.• Draft and publicise technically worded Parliamentary motions, following specific guidelines.• Plan, book, organise and draft speeches for the members work as a delegate to the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional authorities as a representative of the Scottish Parliament.• Function as a personal assistant for the member. Every week I prepare a printed diary for the member, including committee papers, briefings, speeches and questions, as well as a media-briefing containing all press releases issued in the week prior, and press-cuttings of where the member has been mentioned in the media.• Attend meetings with the member, take notes, and follow up on agreed actions.Other duties:• I assist with the other functions of the office including casework, campaign emails, diary management, attending events, and meeting with constituents.
