My background in Biology and Environmental Studies gives me the necessary foundation to interpret and communicate the data collected. Programs were flexible in order to fit within existing spaces and restrictions. Studied food web dynamics by collecting and observing small mammals, prairie dogs and other primary sources of food. Investigated the effects of infectious disease, Sylvatic plague, on prairie dog populations and experimented with various treatment plans (insecticides and vaccines) on reducing plague presence in small mammals.

Parks For Parasite Research ProjectSwarthmore College Sep 2017 - Feb 2018Swarthmore, PaStudent-led research experiment analyzing the existing protected areas of the continental United States. Fed parasite distribution maps through RCPs climate scenarios and compared with US protected areas distributions to evaluate how well they protect parasite biodiversity under a changing climate. Honed skills in generating and analyzing GIS plots and large datasets. Concluded that future protection depends on the clade of species and how species respond to climate change. Learned that when losing area, more is lost outside protected areas, while more protected area is gained when gaining area. -
Forestry Research AssistantSwarthmore College May 2017 - Sep 2017Swarthmore, PaIndependent research experiment conducted at a neighboring arboretum, the Crum Woods. Researched the effects of climate change on ecosystem health, by generating and analyzing datasets on tree species richness, distribution, diversity, density, etc. Used in conjunction with online datasets to develop trends of environmental factors and their impact on tree growth.
