I am honoured that City Council has appointed me to the Heritage Calgary as a Board Member. The Heritage Calgary is responsible for advising City Council on matters relating to heritage resources in Calgary, evaluating potential heritage sites / maintaining the Inventory of Evaluated Historic Resources and promoting public awareness of Calgary's heritage. In the spirit of Reconciliation, Heritage Calgary is interested in including local indigenous culture in its mandate, and I am excited to be able to assist in this meaningful work.

Consultation, Indigenous business development and community investment advisor for 19 First Nations and 3 Metis Settlements in western Alberta, NE BC and south NWT, as well as numerous towns, counties and municipalities in that region.

• Supported, advised and worked collaboratively with the IGRC CEO to carry out strategic plans, operational initiatives and internal process improvements for the IGRC and First Nation,• Provided insight to Chief, Council and CEO into government and industry trends in policy and emerging issues that may influence First Nation Treaty Rights,• Fostered new partnerships and further develop existing relationships with various levels of government, industry and other Indigenous communities,• Provided guidance on internal governance, policy and budgets.

- Built relationships/partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders in support of FMFN #468 IGRC,- Facilitated the development of business partnerships with Band companies and various industries,- Maintained a current awareness & knowledge of regulatory bodies, the consultation process and ensured that these obligations were met in a timely manner,- Possessed a strong awareness of the environmental traditional landscape, including latest strategies of levels of government and industry that is required to influence or positively impact First Nation Treaty Rights and Leadership Direction at a regional level,- Acted in an advisory role to the IGRC Director to carry out all delegated files,- Captured and maintained an activity log on all consultation and engagement activities,- Collaborated closely with team members to meet IRC governing objectives and provided leadership role to co-workers,- Promoted the IGRC as an ethical and valuable resource for community members and band management, - Anticipated and interactively discussed stakeholder relations, system management and represented the group to ensure that consultation activities were prioritized and met,- Responsible for representing FMFN#468 in various government, industry and professional events,- Monitored reports on proponent and project tracking.- Developed action plans that aligned with regulatory assessments to assist with land management plans,- Designed a Stewardship Plan to engage industry on clarifying goals detailed in long term benefit agreements and working towards meeting all obligations.

- Over 7 years I successfully achieved timely Adequacy rulings from the Government of Alberta (SRD, ACO & AER) on over 250 consultations with 20 Indigenous groups in northern Alberta, focusing on the oil sands region and further south into the Lac La Biche area. - I worked closely with the various communities to determine possible impacts to their Treaty rights and traditional uses due to project footprints varying in scope from a single well/access road to commercial SAGD projects, and where possible determined ways of mitigating impacts.- The most gratifying part of this position was in developing close working & personal relationships within the various communities. These relationships fostered a trust that permitted me to regularly be included in events such as Treaty Days, pow wows and Christmas celebrations.- I participated within the various project teams at AOC to develop consultation plans that would meet the teams' timelines. This also provided me with the appropriate knowledge of the projects that would assist me in consultations with the communities.- Served as conduit between First Nation & Metis companies, either community-owned or otherwise, and AOC's Procurement department; participated in joint meetings seeking opportunities for these companies within AOC projects and advocating on their behalf.

- Liaised with 22 Indigenous groups from N.E. British Columbia, N.W. and central Alberta, S.E. Saskatchewan, informing them of upcoming projects and working with them to determine possible impacts to their Treaty rights and traditional uses. I worked closely with these communities and Penn West project teams to determine ways of mitigating possible impacts.- I worked with the Government of Alberta (SRD) to ensure my consultation submissions were completed in such a way that the SRD would provide timely approvals for projects.- A gratifying part of this position was developing close working & personal relationships within the various communities.- I participated within the various project teams at Penn West to develop consultation plans that would meet the teams' timelines. This provided me with the appropriate knowledge of the projects that would assist me in consultations with the communities.
