Treasurer and Public Officer of RT Families Foundation, a registered charity operated by RT Health staff, 2020-2023.Responsibilities:• Preparation and delivery of the annual internal audit plan• Engaging outside professionals to perform audits that comply with prudential regulations• Follow-up of outstanding audit issues• Reporting to the Board Audit & Finance Committee and to the Audit & Risk Committee of a subsidiary health fund. • Assist management through provision of advice or completion of special projects as requested.Achievements:• Established a co-sourced IT audit function that enabled the group to meet the requirements of APRA prudential standard CPS 234 – Information Security • Guided the IT function through multiple external/tripartite audits of compliance with the standard.• Managed internal audit work and reporting through the merger with HCF, including liaison with HCF’s outsourced IA function.• Significantly improved control over the management of outstanding audit issues, reducing outstanding issues from over 100 to less than 20.• Significantly improved the relationship between internal audit and management, transforming the relationship from being adversarial to one of IA being seen as a valued advisor.

Provide interim assistance to Suncorp’s Internal Audit team while a senior staff member was on long service leave. Responsible for leading audits within the general insurance team and ensuring their timely completion in accordance with the internal audit plan.

Provide assistance to QBE’s Internal Audit through a period of staff shortage. Responsible for overall planning and leading of Group wide audits of enterprise risk management and financial controls. This included completing audit work within the Group Head Office and Equator Re (Bermuda) functions while also co-ordinating audit work being performed in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia/Pacific.
