Working within PHL, alongside a terrific group of clinical and non-clinical colleagues, delivering a high standard of medical care in the Out of Hours arena.My role within the wider team is to provide medical care to all age groups, either through remote telephone triage or on home visits from our bases in Lymington, Whiteley & Portsmouth, out across Hampshire.

Home Based

I provide independent expert opinion on clinical practice in cases involving ambulance staff, ambulance trusts and allied healthcare prehospital clinicians.

United Kingdom

I am part of the medical team that support the governments overseas response team - UK International Fire & Rescue team (UKISAR). UKISAR are trained to deploy at short notice & provide an international search and rescue capability in times of natural disaster; earthquakes & floods, as with Haiti, Japan, New Zealand and Nepal. The medical team are trained to provide medical aid to the firefighters and those trapped and rescued.Through UKISAR, I have worked with the Aga Khan Development Network team in Pakistan, assessing and training local rescue personnel in trauma and medical skills. In 2013, I initiated a placement scheme in Cape Town for UKISAR medical team, working alongside the local Emergency Medical Services and I have attended training exercises in Germany, Denmark, America and Canada.

I work full time in a busy GP surgery, seeing same day patients of all ages, for with wide ranging illnesses and injuries, prescribing medication, whilst also undertaking home visits and telephone triage calls.

I started with Dorset Ambulance service in July 1991, progressing through all grades until I ended my career with the trust in 2019. During my time in the ambulance service, I operated on both ambulances and response cars and, along with several colleagues, developed Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.During my ambulance service career, I was privileged to gain experience of other emergency medical services both in the UK and overseas; Switzerland, South Africa, USA & Canada.

Kyrgyzstan

I was employed in the capacity as a Consultant on Prehospital Emergency Care, to provide direct assistance to the Kyrgyz government. The work consisted of an initial needs assessment in the rural & hardest to reach areas of Kyrgyzstan and then to develop and implement a Trainer of Trainers programme for local prehospital medical workers.
