A former US Marine, graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, successful business owner and a licensed Master Mariner, Captain David Murrin has over 3 decades of experience in leadership, entrepreneurship and business operations. As a Ship’s Master, Captain Murrin has been responsible for assets valued in excess of $2.2 billion, directed shipboard operations including the safety of up to 2,440 crew members, At Sea Command of both of the US Naval Hospital Ships, a Missile Tracking Ship in 7th Fleet, four Deep Draft UNREP Tankers three Ammunition Ships and Officer in Charge of the Sixth Fleet Command Ship. As a Master Mariner, Captain Murrin has traveled the world many times over and proven himself as an asset in developing international relationships with US and foreign dignitaries, Port Authorities and competing business interests. In 2004 he established Atlantic Logistics and Trading, a successful chemical trading company focused on the development of international partnerships resulting in the trade of bulk chemicals and solvents. In 2008, Captain Murrin in conjunction with long-time friend and business partner Marcellous Butler pooled their talents to establish Alpha Energy, a community based renewable energy development company. As Chairman & Co-Founder of Alpha Energy, Captain Murrin has been the driving force behind Community Scale Wind Energy in Maryland. Whether in the US or overseas, he is a tenacious advocate for the new energy economy and Alpha Energy's "Community Power Initiative" establishing stability and prosperity in the areas they serve, providing regional energy security, grid stability and environmental stewardship.
