The special purposes of the Not-For-Profit Corporation, as a professional trade association shall be to promote, in a lawful and legal manner the development, preservation, operation, maintenance, and general welfare of the Industry within the City of New York; to develop, instill and foster, by study, education, research and collaboration among the members and Industry experts, uniform safety standards, rules, regulations and legislation applicable to the Industry for the benefit of the Membership and all others involved in the Industry, and intending to ensure the economic and physical safety and well-being of the general public situated in the City of New York; to promote ethical practices to the end that the health, safety and economic strength of the Membership and the general public are safeguarded; to conduct studies, engage in research, and in any other similar and legitimate activities to aid the Industry; to supply timely information in a legal manner to the members of this association, to any person engaged in the Industry and to the general public with respect to any and all matters vital to the maintenance, preservation and development of uniform safety standards and practices within the Industry; to collaborate and cooperate in every legal manner with all branches of the government of the City and State of New York having to do with the regulation and preservation of the Industry, its safety standards and practices; to conduct in every legal manner trade promotion activities, including advertising and publicity; to engage in any lawful activities which will enhance the efficient and economic progress of the Industry; and, to do any other act or thing incidental to or connected with the foregoing purposes or in advancement thereof, but not for the pecuniary profit or financial gain of its members, directors or officers, except as permitted under Article 5 of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law.
