While at Black Bear David was responsible for customer engagement activities of the company and helping develop business opportunities in the areas of onsite solar, fuel cells, battery storage, LED lighting, so forth.

At Walmart David headed up the Regulated Utility side of the business, Renewable Energy, and Regulatory Affairs functions. While leading renewable energy deal origination efforts, Walmart installed over 350 solar systems across the U.S. including rooftop solar, solar tracking, and solar shaded parking structures; began installing EV Charging Stations at targeted locations; began testing and using battery storage; installed over 50 fuel cell systems; entered into large offsite wind PPAs; and negotiated the company’s first large scale solar purchase agreement with a utility. During his time at Walmart the company was recognized by the EPA Green Power Program as having the most installed onsite generation in the U.S. on multiple occasions. During his tenure at Walmart he worked with several other large corporate energy buyers, WWF, and WRI to develop the Corporate Renewable Energy Buyers Principals.
