I was employed as a graduate engineer at Thales as part of the Graduate Program. During the program, I undertook four six-month rotations, exposing me to many different areas within the company, including:• Manufacturing – In this role, I was involved in developing work instructions for the manufacture of the Bushmaster and Hawkei protected vehicles. I troubleshooted issues as they arose on the line and responded accordingly, taking into account feedback from production staff.• Design, Mechatronics – This role involved integrating upgraded radio equipment into the existing Bushmaster fleet of vehicles. I played a major role in the preliminary design of the power distribution system, electrical wiring and mounting bracketry, and ensured the new system did not negatively affect any existing vehicle functions.• Design, Electrical – I was responsible for managing the interior and exterior lighting on the Hawkei. In addition, I coordinated the testing and integration of a new rear view camera into the vehicle.• Systems – In this role, I further developed the existing mass model of the Hawkei, developed specifications for new system capabilities to ensure vehicle compliance to ADR and ECE regulations, and managed the Master Bill of Materials.
