I have worked over 40 years in religious education and leading congregations. Am now retired but serve as consultant and speaker in congregations and groups regarding spiritual peace, freedom and seeing traditional religions in a new light. In 1987 I studied in India Ashrams and wrote of the experience in a doctoral dissertation explaining the importance of solitude and meditation. I also teach how the stories of Jesus were likely to be adaptations from earlier mythologies of the area, stories dating back to ancient Egypt. I also teach how the early church was democratic and egalitarian but after the 4th Century Roman takeover in centralization and uniformity, most of the basic applications of spirituality were lost. I tend to believe we are now in a new period of reformation and awakening, making religious styles such as eastern religions much more popular in their similarities to early Christianity. Recently I published my first album of spiritually inclusive songs titled, "Nahmod's Nomads."
