Started my working life as an industrial chemist. Had a lot of fun for 10 years but eventually decided that "boffins" are too isolated. Got halfway through a degree in psychology and economics and then changed my work course to marketing and management in industry, a move which halted my formal studies. At about age 30 I made a decision to quit the corporate world and enter the financial planning arena. My prime motives were to have total control over my time, to meet people from all walks of life and to be paid in proportion to my work input. I still enjoy the challenge of keeping my knowledge up to date and constantly having to retain a competitive advantage in the market place. I have learned to surround myself with bright and dynamic business partners from a range of age groups, competent staff and top quality clients.I am eternally grateful that I made the decision to join the financial planning profession in 1981 when the industry was in its infancy. A repeat performance in the current environment would be close to impossible !
