Responsible for the operation of 104 managed, tenanted and leased pubs within the Thames Valley and as far west as Salisbury, east to Knebworth and south as far as Sunbury on Thames. Substantial development of over 70 pubs, acquisition of more than 20 freeholds and addition of 96 letting rooms to the estate. The companies profits and share price grew enormously during this period and W. H. Brakspear plc was subsequently sold to its largest shareholder in January 2007.

Responsible for the operation of my former company Dragon Inns and Restaurants along with the maverick businesses of the parent group, including Rock Island Diner (1 Piccadilly Circus), Hubble & Co (Smithfield), City Brasserie (Plantation House, Fenchurch Street)

I was invited to join this fledgling company by the founders of one of my previous companies, Licensing Solutions. After a short time I became Managing Director. The enormous sales growth was harnessed and quickly converted to profit. This led to the sale of the company to the then 16 strong Cafe Rouge (Pelican Group) and a two year tie in to achieve profit guarantees.

Contracted to take over and operate 21 former Hanson Trust / Courage pubs throughout England prior to becoming Harvester branded developments.

Independent startup company grown to 16 mainly leasehold operations in 5 years. Personally profit responsible for up to 16 pub restaurant / brasserie / hotels businesses. The growth was accelerated in part due to the changes brought about by the monopolies and mergers judgement in 1988, directing brewers to offload 50% of any tied pubs over 3,000 and the subsequent availability of long leasehold pubs proving too tempting to resist. Enormous success led to the sale of the company.

Dual Manager of a highly successful privately owned Free House famed for real ales, wine bar atmosphere, good food at lunchtime and the best live music in south London. Beer only turnover in excess of 1300 barrels. Responsible for auditioning many bands, I booked and subsequently helped manage 'The Drivers' who became the 'Cutting Crew' and others such as 'Visitor' (Go West)!
