National Parole Board Members are the primary decision-makers in conditional release decisions for offenders in Canada's federal prisons.

Providing leadership for the Department's presence in Atlantic Canada, including responsibility for delivery of eight programs and short-term special initiatives to 1500+ clients in the not-for-profit sector, as well as corporate services (communications, financial services, administration) and human resources management for staff in four offices across Atlantic Canada.

Responsible for the Department's regional team delivering all programs across Atlantic Canada. These include: Canada Arts Presentation Fund; Canada Cultural Spaces Fund; Museums Assistance Program; Building Communities Through Arts & Heritage Program; Official Languages Support Program; Celebrate Canada Program; Aboriginal Women's Program; the Fathers of Confederation Buildings Trust Program; and the Canada 150 Fund.

Led the Department's Atlantic Regional team to deliver the Official Languages Program, as well as the Celebrate Canada Program, the Aboriginal Women's Program, and the Fathers of Confederation Buildings Trust Program.

Led the Department's Nova Scotia team to deliver five programs in Nova Scotia related to Culture, Official Languages and Canadian Identity, mainly through grants and contributions to external client organizations.

Provided executive leadership for Canadian Heritage's operations in Atlantic Canada, including 70 FTEs, a budget of approximately $31M, and four offices. Responsible for delivery of the Non-Insured Health Benefits, Dental Therapy, Indian Residential Schools Mental Health Support, Home and Community Care, Tobacco Control, and Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse programs to 37,000 First Nations and Inuit clients in Atlantic Canada (total program budget of $46 million). Coordinated liaison between Health Canada and the Office of the Auditor General (AG) and the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development (CESD) on audit issues specific to Health Canada or where the Department was part of government-wide audits. Negotiated operating agreements and budgets and conducted annual programming reviews for 659 long-term care beds located in 23 contract facilities in Atlantic Region (annual operating cost of $53 million). Negotiated solutions to resident service problems arising in these facilities. Served as Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) team leader on four inter-governmental projects to construct new long-term care facilities. Served as Chairperson of the Regional Institutional Care Committee.

Served as Local Implementation Manager in Atlantic Region for the implementation of a national client service delivery network. Analyzed work processes and human resource implications related to system integration.

Implemented national communications initiatives in Atlantic Region in commemoration of the Canada Remembers Program. Managed regional Veterans Week project, with large-scale events in Atlantic provincial capitals. Provided communications advice to management. Managed the region's responsibilities under the federal Access to Information and Privacy legislation. Served as official spokesperson for the region. Served as a member of the Regional Health Care Team, reviewing client requests for health-related benefits. Organized regional client services conferences. Participated on an inter-governmental, inter-agency project entitled, "Care for the Caregiver." Developed a system to convert regional client correspondence from a word processing pool to a user-generated macro-based system. Developed a database to support the regional quality control function.

Served as shift supervisor for a team of Media Relations Officers providing support to over 2,500 international media personnel at the 1995 Halifax G7 Summit.

Coordinated the visits of 16 international delegations to Treasury Board Secretariat to study the Canadian Federal Public Service. Assisted in the development of Personnel Policy Branch's Bill C-26 implementation strategy. Assisted in the development and maintenance of the government-wide ConnEXions electronic bulletin board.

Completed assignments in the following positions: Administrative Officer; Chief, Medical Claims Research; and Head, Branch Administration. Also worked in the department’s National Strike Centre during the 1991 Public Service Alliance of Canada labour disruption and completed the post-mortem report on the operation.
